Growing up I always had weight issues. It took years to get over my fear of the gym. When I had gotten myself to a place where I felt comfortable with my body and the gym, that’s when I met Sean.
One day after taking his total body class, I decided I needed a little extra cardio. He came right up to me and said “You didn’t get enough in my class??” I said “No..” He responded “what u tryin to do?” I quickly replied “get more cut up..” “More??” he said, smirkingly. “I don’t see anything.” Our story began that day.
The main thing Sean has taught me is to be strong physically and mentally. He constantly reminds me to never settle, expect more, be better in every aspect of life- not just at the gym. He’s not just my trainer, he’s my coach and friend. Our journey isn’t over yet. It’s been 2 years since that first encounter and I can’t wait to see how much more we can completely change and push my body through his unique yet intensely satisfying program.
In my opinion Sean is the best trainer and instructor in NYC and from someone who works out with him 6 days a week, I think I’m qualified to make that statement.

I started training with Sean about two years after I had my first child. I’ve always been in good shape, but my body wasn’t the same the post-baby. I yearned for the time when my body was leaner, stronger and tighter. Sean pushes me and my body to new limits and the results are amazing. I noticed a difference in my body and my strength in just a few weeks. We mix it up with strength training, boxing, kick-boxing, and other exercises that I wouldn’t be motivated to do on my own. It takes a lot of hard work, but with Sean, you can accomplish things that you never thought you were capable of – and that’s helped me be happier and more successful in everything that I do. Plus, you get a killer body.

I was never particularly athletic, but had always admired those who were. I went through various exercise phases throughout my life where I would join a gym, go for a couple of months and then stop going for months at a time. About four years ago, I was trying to get back into one of my “on” phases and signed up for one of those introductory training sessions at the gym hoping it would give me the jump start that I needed. Unfortunately, the first session was a disaster. The trainer began my workout and by about 15 minutes into it I began to feel dizzy and nauseous. I informed him that I needed a minute and that I felt like I might throw up. He told me that he didn’t consider a training session a success unless the client felt like vomiting! At that point, I went to the ladies room to wait for the nausea to pass, and when I came out the trainer was nowhere to be found. I have to say that I was pretty taken aback that there was no concern on his part as to whether or not I was okay. It was almost as if his goal was to make me not want to work out ever again as opposed to motivating me to make exercise a part of my lifestyle. Needless to say, I was not very excited about the prospect of scheduling my next session.
About a week later, as I aimlessly wandered around the gym, eying the machine circuit and trying to figure out what to do, I was approached by a trainer on the floor who asked me if I needed help. He told me that his name was Sean and he proceeded to assist me through a workout circuit and then asked me if I wanted to do some Abdominal exercises. He was extremely helpful and I felt like I had actually gotten a great work out. The best part was, I didn’t feel sick—I felt great!

After that, I purchased a training package with Sean. By the end of the 12 weeks, the progress was so incredible that I couldn’t imagine stopping. That was four years ago and I have trained with Sean every week since. He pushes me, which I desperately need, but somehow he understands my limits better than I do and is able to get me out of my comfort zone. The progress has been amazing. At age 47, I feel stronger than I ever have. I went from not being able to do a single push up, to doing three sets of 15.

As someone who works long hours, the steady exercise has benefited me in so many ways. I had struggled with back pain and sometimes knee pain, and Sean helped me strengthen my legs and my core to a point where I never feel those pains anymore. Last summer, I went to surfing camp! That is something that I would have never had the confidence to do before.

I feel so lucky that Sean discovered me that day. He has helped make me healthier, happier, and a better person.

Thank you Sean!

I’ve been training with Sean Aqareva for over two years now, both one-on-one and in his boot camp class, and in that time I’ve accomplished things I never thought possible. I’m an outdoors enthusiast, and as I gear up for my next big adventure, whether it’s ice climbing, mountaineering, surfing, or just plain mud running, it’s Sean who will get me where I need to be. Sean is a fierce warrior, a force of nature. His sessions are intense (of course), but also dynamic, creative, and yes, fun

I’ve trained with Sean for more than three years now and can’t imagine working out with any other trainer. I started taking his kickboxing class at the NY Sports Club in 2010 and when I got engaged I just knew I had to ask Sean to work with me one on one to get me in “the perfect wedding” shape. Sean is an amazing teacher, from his high energy to his every changing and challenging workout routines. However, what sets Sean apart is his genuine love of getting his clients in shape (aka “kicking our butts”) and his motivation and dedication to everyone he works with. Sean got me in the best shape of my life for my wedding, and he is now there helping get me back to where I was post-baby (which is not easy!). Sean is also a great guy and a true friend. He makes working out fun (for those of you who can’t stand the gym). You can’t ask for more in a trainer

There is no denying that Sean is passionate about fitness, as evident with the incredible energy and enthusiasm he brings to every training session. With his challenging and creative workouts, he pushed me past my perceived limits to results I did not know could be reached. Sean and I joined forces about 5 months before my wedding day. His workouts focused on correct form yielded results – both physically and mentally – within weeks that I’ve been able to maintain with weekly sessions for 2.5 years and 1 infant later. In short, Sean is the standard by which any trainer should be measured.
